STEP 1: PRE-ADOPTION SCREENING

About two weeks before the kitties are ready for adoption, we start the pre-adoption process. We ask all interested adopters to fill out our pre-adoption application which collects information about you, your home, and which cat(s) you are interested in adopting.

STEP 2: MEET THE KITTIES

After we have reviewed your adoption screening application, we will set up a time for you to meet the kitties. Usually, this is an in-person visit to our foster room but we are conducting video introductions due to COVID-19 until further notice. This is your chance to ask any questions about the cat's personality and consider how he or she will be a part of your family.

STEP 3: PREPARING FOR ADOPTION

Congratulations! You've chosen your new forever cat and have been approved for adoption! We get the cat(s) ready to go and finish the required vetting including eligible vaccines, deworming, and spay/neuter surgery. If under 3-pounds, kittens do not receive a rabies vaccine.

You will have a chance to "catify" your home in preparation for your new family member. We will keep in touch and send photos and updates on your cat's progress.

STEP 4: TAKE YOUR NEW BABY HOME!

When your new kitten is ready to go, you will fill out the Nashville Cat Rescue application and bring the adoption fee to the pick-up. The adoption fee is $100 and can be paid by check, cash, or Venmo to Nashville Cat Rescue.

We will schedule a time to come pick up your cat(s). Please bring a carrier to the pick-up; cats must be in a carrier to leave with you. We will give you the full health history report card to take to your vet. You will sign an NCR adoption contract and then you can take your new baby home!

STEP 5: AFTER ADOPTION

After getting your new cat home, you should set up a vet appointment as soon as possible. We can help you determine when that should be based on their health history.
